Although many groundwater and surface waters have recently been polluted, pollution prevention is still possible. Water quality management (WQM) is the only way to keep the remaining water resources unpolluted and suitable for usage. The problem of water shortage and the high investments to supply good quality of water from remote resources can be avoided by WQM. Availability of water in good quality encourages not only industry and agriculture but also tourism activities. This implies providing new job opportunities and reducing unemployment problems. WQM reduces environmental problems and even serious regional conflicts between countries that have problems in sharing water. Furthermore, WQM provides a healthy ecological environment.
